Kaštil Slanica Restaurant

The Kaštil Slanica restaurant is located in the canyon of the River Cetina, just 4 km from Omiš and the sea.
Built upon the ruins of the medieval market town, today, the Slanica tower represents a monument of the 16th century. During the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries during the reign of the Kačić Dukes of Omiš, Slanica became a safe refuge for the famous Omiš pirates.

After the 14th century, with the emergence of a strong Turkish force in Omiš and the Poljički area, Slanica became a marketplace - the most common product in trade was salt (salty = slano), hence the name Slanica. Today, the Kaštil Slanica restaurant stands out as part of the centuries-old tradition of the canyon with its unique ambience and gastronomy associated to the surroundings and its history.

At the Kaštil Slanica, the day begins with baking the bread in the oven, which is a trademark of the restaurant. Truly enjoy the traditional food related to the River Cetina (frogs, eels, and trout) to the sea (daily fresh fish) and to the hills (špuži), baked dishes or under the grill, and soparnik a la carte. Homemade bread, baked in the oven, is offered daily.
